Five Years in Woodlawn

Five Years in Woodlawn: More Than Physical Therapy, A Commitment to Community

What does it mean to bring quality healthcare into a community? Sometimes, it means making care a little closer to home. Sometimes, it means helping someone get back to work, walk without pain, or enjoy time with their grandchildren again. And sometimes, it simply means making sure people know there is a place they can turn when they need help.

Five years ago, TherapySouth opened the doors of its Woodlawn clinic with this purpose in mind: to bring quality physical therapy closer to home for a community that deserves access to it.

TherapySouth Woodlawn is a not-for-profit physical therapy clinic founded on a mission that goes beyond physical rehabilitation. Rooted in TherapySouth’s core values, the clinic was created to serve its neighbors, build relationships, and make a meaningful difference in the community.

As TherapySouth founder Steve Foster explains:

“At TherapySouth, we believe healthcare should reach every community, not just those with the easiest access.”

That belief is what brought us to Woodlawn, and it continues to guide us today.

Bringing Care Closer to Home

For many people, getting better involves more than showing up for one appointment. Physical therapy often requires weeks of consistent visits, and finding transportation, working around a job, or coordinating family schedules can make that commitment difficult.

We believe where someone lives should never determine the quality of care they receive. Having access to physical therapy close to home can make all the difference in someone’s ability to begin treatment, stay consistent, and reach their goals.

But bringing care to Woodlawn has always meant more than opening a clinic in a convenient location. It means investing in the people who live here and recognizing that every person deserves the opportunity to move better, feel better, and enjoy a healthier life.

It’s About the People

Some of the most meaningful moments in physical therapy happen outside of the treatment plan. They happen in the conversations between appointments, the familiar faces that become part of your routine, and the relationships built along the way.

For our Woodlawn team, those relationships are what make this work so special.

Our office coordinator recently shared a favorite memory about a special connection she has made at the clinic. What began as a simple introduction has grown into a friendship filled with encouragement, laughter, and time spent together.

One moment, in particular, has stayed with her. On her birthday, she offered to share a piece of cake, but instead, she received a request for something much sweeter: a hug. It was a small moment that meant so much and one she continues to cherish.

It’s these everyday interactions that remind us why we do what we do. Physical therapy is about helping people move better and regain independence, but it’s also about connection, encouragement, and making people feel welcome.

Sometimes, the greatest measure of what we do isn’t found in a treatment plan or a milestone. It’s found in the relationships we build and the lives we get to be a part of along the way.

A Community Effort

Being part of a community means showing up, building relationships, and working alongside others who share a commitment to making a difference.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside organizations like Christ Health and other community partners who are dedicated to serving Woodlawn. These relationships allow us to connect with more people, support one another’s efforts, and help make healthcare more accessible.

Our commitment to Woodlawn is also a reflection of TherapySouth’s eight core values: faith, giving, compassion, service, family, integrity, fitness, and perseverance. These values shape how we care for our patients, how we support one another, and how we approach the communities we serve.

As a not-for-profit clinic, our focus remains on people and the community we serve. We are proud to be part of a mission that puts compassionate care and service at the center of what we do.

Five Years of Showing Up

Five years later, we have so much to be thankful for.

To the patients who have trusted us with their care, the families who have supported them along the way, the community partners who have welcomed us, and everyone who has played a part in our journey, thank you.

Every appointment, every relationship, and every small victory has been part of our story. We are proud of what these first five years have meant for Woodlawn, but even more excited about the opportunity to continue serving this community for years to come.

Our commitment has not changed. We believe everyone deserves access to quality care, a team that genuinely cares about their well-being, and the opportunity to live life to the fullest.

Here’s to five years in Woodlawn, and to many more years of serving the community we are grateful to call home.
