Tony Bridges, MS, CSCS, CDE, CEES is the Director of Industrial Rehabilitation Services for TherapySouth and will be serving patients at the new TherapySouth clinic in Montgomery.
The clinic, located at 8117 Old Federal Road in Montgomery, opened in September of 2020 under the direction of Tiffany Higginbotham, PT, MSPT. TherapySouth acquired Higginbotham’s business (Body Logic Physical Therapy and Wellness) and together they continue to service the physical therapy needs of the community. Since opening, the clinic has expanded to incorporate a new space solely dedicated to treating workers compensation patients.
The additional space will provide patients the ability to receive hands-on orthopedic physical therapy, work conditioning, Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) through Bridges’ Polylift technology, impairment ratings, and post-offer job testing.
The space contains everything that is needed to assist patients with work-related activities, including boxes, stairs, sleds, ladders, weights and more.
“As opposed to just putting a work conditioning patient through generic exercises, we are able to simulate job tasks and provide full scale work conditioning,” said Bridges. “We will offer the whole continuum of services that an injured worker would need – from physical therapy, work conditioning, FCEs, impairment ratings, job site and ergonomic analysis.”
TherapySouth is proud to provide advanced services to employers and injured workers. Bridges’ background includes sports performance, as he is a Certified Sports Performance Coach and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
“Injured workers will always be treated with the highest priority that athletes receive to offer the greatest rehab experience possible. We will stay abreast of latest research and trends that apply to these injured workers as it does to athletes,” said Bridges.
Bridges has been active in the industrial rehabilitation industry for the past 30 years. In addition to his athletic background, Bridges has certifications in strength and conditioning (CSCS), disability examination (CDE), and ergonomic evaluation (CEES).
Bridges formed a relationship with TherapySouth years ago at a worker’s compensation conference. With an interest in Bridges’ Polylift machine for FCEs, TherapySouth maintained contact with Bridges and purchased several of the machines for their practice.
TherapySouth is excited to have Bridges working at the Montgomery clinic to provide knowledge, expertise, and training to the injured worker population.
“The relationship became more than business, it became a friendship between all of us,” Bridges said. “When the opportunity came, I felt like God opened up a door and this is what I was being led to do.”
